Dusk on the Pacific

Long Beach was our last stop on the way out of town. We got there after the sun had fallen below the horizon but nonetheless, what a sight to behold!

I made this long exposure with my “tripod” for the trip, a Gorillapod SLR-Zoom outfitted with a small Flashpoint ballhead (we had travelled by float plane and luggage restrictions meant leaving the normal ‘pod at home). Thank goodness for driftwood. The only stump on the beach provided enough elevation for an adequate POV. 😉

Fall

Lately, I’ve been thinking about impressionism, interpretive and abstract photography. This is an image that I created to reflect the season. It is a single exposure, created in-camera with no processing/photoshop special effects.

20 Seconds

As nature and landscape photographers, we are out there, chasing the light. Frequently, she is fleeting – treating us to amazing sights before quickly moving on.

I made this exposure on a windy, rainy day. I had been busy shooting reflections. When I straighted up and looked around, I spotted this beautiful study in light and tones. I was lucky enough to make a couple of exposures before the clouds closed up again.

Super, Natural British Columbia

I shot this on the Kennedy River (in the middle of Vancouver Island) several weeks ago. Scenes like this made me realize why they call the province “Super, Natural British Columbia”.
