I shot this a couple of months ago, before the leaves began to fall. Nothing super special, I just liked how shapes of the maple leaves filled both positive and negative spaces, creating a interesting Escher-like image.

That Time of Year

And so it begins.
The shortening of the days, the brisk chill in the air, the falling of the leaves.
I bank the memories of sunny days like today to help me make it through the coming weeks, when the days are cold and rainy and dusk descends at 4:30.

I made this exposure on a gorgeous Spring morning. The oblique sunlight illuminated these sprouting maple leaves for about 10 seconds and then was gone. I was lucky to have been there.
