Painting with Fall Color

I decided to do a bit of painting with autumn colors. This is a double exposure, done in-camera. The first exposure was short and shallow, to capture the detail in the foreground. I then closed the aperture all the way down to facilitate painting on a longish shutter speed.

Pointer
After having spent the previous day accompanying the Southern Residents on their trip home, a male member of the Northern Community cruises lazily on the surface, resting and feeding. I’m pretty sure that this is A39, also known as Pointer.

Lake Crescent

with one comment

This is Lake Crescent on the Olympic Peninsula, one of my favorite local lakes. I first drove by it many, many years ago on a heavily overcast, freezing winter day. The vividness of the blue-green waters and the majesty of the surrounding landscape remain with me till this day.

I shot this early this summer, under the bright afternoon sun. Not the best of lighting conditions, but the main purpose of our trip was a sightseeing adventure, so this sight was a bonus anyway.
