The Way I See It

I made this image on a gorgeous sunny afternoon this past weekend. Shot from one of Seattle’s steep bluffs, it features an iconic Washington State Ferry as it plies it’s way across the shimmering waters of the Puget Sound. In the rear are the cliffs and hills of neighboring islands. It is scenes and days like this that make the seemingly interminable gray-wet-cold winter months more tolerable.

Dusk Through the Trees

I shot this on a cold, clear winter evening, right after the sun had dropped below the horizon. They say the hour after sunset is magical. This was one of those evenings.

Painting with Fall Colors

Painting with Fall Color

I decided to do a bit of painting with autumn colors. This is a double exposure, done in-camera. The first exposure was short and shallow, to capture the detail in the foreground. I then closed the aperture all the way down to facilitate painting on a longish shutter speed.
